Drain Away Produce Top Rowers!

Drain Away Kent helped with an unusual job for Dover District Council. The Parks Department called to say that they had an old Victorian fountain in the middle of a lake, which is fed through a 12” pipe from a sluice gate on a fast flowing river, which had blocked.

Drain Away Kent attended site and worked in the river jetting through the sluice gate. The pipe feeding the fountain was about 100m long, so in total they used over 200m of jetting hose. They cleared the blockage and got the fountain flowing, however all of the debris from the pipe ended up strewn all over the fountain, it didn’t look very good and the head park keeper was puzzled as to how Drain Away could clear up the mess!

After some deliberation Drain Away realised that the only way to get to the fountain was by boat. It just so happened that the park keeper had an old rowing boat, so two keen engineers cautiously volunteered to row to the fountain and clear the debris. It was only when the engineers were about half way across that the park keeper announced that he thought the boat had a leak. Nevertheless, the guys battled on and managed to clear all of the debris from the fountain. The park ranger said “that the fountain had never worked so well.”

Now Dover District Council contact Drain Away on a regular basis to help with various plumbing and drainage issues.
